Paul Ferguson has two selections for us on Saturday; Lope Y Fernandez in the Ascot 2.30 and Astrologer in the Haydock 8.00. Compare odds and bet.
Aidan O’Brien has already won the Coventry Stakes (Arizona) and Windsor Castle (Southern Hills) and he can take Saturday’s two-year-old contest – the opening Chesham Stakes – with Lope Y Fernandez (2:30) who really impressed on debut at the Curragh.
He cost a small fortune as a yearling and he duly justified favouritism on his racecourse debut, really stretching out in the style of an exciting colt. It is more a case of potential over form with him, but he looked a Group-class performer in the making and he can maintain his 100% record.
Up at Haydock, Astrologer (8:00) looks capable of completing the hat-trick at in the mile handicap. An all-the-way winner at this track on heavy ground just 15 days ago, David O’Meara’s Intello filly might well get her own way out in front again here and given how she finished over 7½f at Carlisle the time before, the step up to a mile shouldn’t pose any problems. She is taken to defy the 6lbs rise in the weights.
Saturday’s selections:
2:30 Royal Ascot – Lope Y Fernandez; 11/8 Ladbrokes
8:00 Haydock – Astrologer; 15/8 BetVictor
