It’s Oaks day at Epsom, where the opening Woodcote Stakes looks a decent renewal, with both Pinatubo and Misty Grey impressing when winning novice events last time.
Sandwiched in between the Coronation Cup and the fillies’ Classic is the Investec Wealth & Investment Handicap, over an extended 1m2f trip. I put up the Godolphin four-year-old Setting Sail (3:45) last time and although he disappointed in fourth, he looks worth another chance, with the drop in trip to suit.
Far too keen at Ascot, he had earlier beaten Charles Kingsley in impressive fashion and that rival ran out a taking winner earlier this week. If he can relax a little, Setting Sail remains open to considerable improvement and he was available at an each-way price, at the time of writing.
