Off the track since mid-October, Heydour (3:05) can get off the mark over fences at Ludlow on Sunday, provided the track isn’t hit by too much rain.
The six-year-old caught the eye when runner-up in the in the superbly-named Paul Ferguson Jumpers To Follow Chase (said with tongue-in-cheek) going down by just a neck and the winner followed up next time. Third home Cloth Cap won his next two and went on to place in the Scottish National, whilst fourth home Copper West (declared at Haydock on Saturday) has also won twice since. Due to the strength of that form, Heydour has been upped 10lbs, but he could still be ahead of the handicapper on a mark of 123 and the step up to 3m should bring about further improvement.
