The winner of this race 12 months ago MERCIAN PRINCE (1:30) is fancied to return to form at Kempton this afternoon.
Amy Murphy’s runner is just 5lbs higher than when successful last year and he shaped with promise on his return at Aintree. Since then, he’s undergone a wind operation before running over an inadequate trip at Ludlow.
With conditions very much in his favour, there seems every chance that he will bounce back.
Later on the same card GLEN ROCCO (3:15) looks ready for the step up to 3m.
He stayed on in taking fashion behind the impressive Glen Forsa here on Boxing Day and he beat a subsequent winner at Fontwell earlier in the campaign. More is required here, but he receives plenty of weight and could improve a fair bit for the longer distance.
