Paul Ferguson has one selection for us on Saturday; Better Getalong in the Haydock 14:05. Compare odds and bet.
Nicky Richards has his horses in extremely good form at present – 8 winners from his last 12 runners – and Better Getalong (2:05) looks of interest at Haydock on Saturday.
Last seen pulling-up in a Grade 1 at Aintree behind the likes of Black Op and Lostintranslation, the seven-year-old relishes heavy ground and this trip could prove to be ideal. He goes well fresh – won first time out for the past two seasons – and a mark of 135 gives him a chance to score again on this afternoon’s reappearance.
Top-weight Chti Balko is right at home at Haydock under testing conditions and run another solid race here last month, but conceding 12lbs to the lightly-raced Better Getalong may prove beyond him. Despite the small field, it looks a fairly decent little event.
Down at Ascot, I’m really looking forward to seeing Call Me Lord in the Long Walk Hurdle, but this is his first start at 3m and I’m slightly concerned about that on the likely heavy ground. Therefore, at the prices and given that it looks a strong renewal, I’m prepared to watch rather than play.
I’ll be back on Boxing Day as usual, but in the meantime, I would like to wish all of our readers a very Merry Christmas.
