Ascot stages a really good card on Friday, with the introductory hurdle a particular highlight.
Olly Murphy saddles his exciting Thomas Darby here and with his Cheltenham form franked at the weekend, he is sure to prove popular. However, I’m expecting Didtheyleaveuoutto (2:05) to step forward from his debut success at Fakenham and he put up a sparkling performance when winning a Listed bumper here last Christmas. As well as the track being more suitable, I think the better race will prove in his favour and he can make it two from two under Barry Geraghty.
The unknown quantity of the race is Highest Sun, who bolted up in France before being purchased for €125,000 and it could be significant – given the stable’s recent impressive novice hurdle winners Eldorado Allen and Elixir du Nuitz – that Colin Tizzard is prepared to pitch in him deep on his British debut.
