Paul Ferguson has two selections for us on Wednesday; Return Ticket in the Musselburgh 1:50 and Manvers House in the 3.40 at Chepstow. Compare odds and bet.
Chepstow stages a really competitive card on Wednesday and the two maiden hurdles are sure to throw up plenty of future winners.
The second of those – over an extended 2m3f – sees Aintree bumper runner-up Kateson make his hurdling debut and having won a bumper at the track last October, he is likely to be in the shake-up.
There are some nice types on show here, however, and one of those is Manvers House (3:40) who ran a race full of promise in a Kempton bumper. Robert Walford’s half-brother to Kingscourt Native eventually finished runner-up to Mister Fisher and the sixth actually runs in the earlier maiden hurdle.
A couple in behind went on to win bumpers and the fifth has already shown promise in a couple of hurdles runs. The step up in trip should suit the selection and it is hoped that he is slightly over-looked when the market opens.
Up at Musselburgh, there is also decent little novices’ hurdle in which it is hoped that Return Ticket (1:50) can bounce back for Ruth Jefferson.
The five-year-old impressed when winning a maiden event at Ayr back in May and travelled well for a long way on his recent reappearance at Carlisle. This sharper test on decent ground is what he needs, so conditions look ideal for this second start of the season.
Debutant Sporting Press deserves respect, but it is likely to be Normal Norman, who won with a bit in hand at Market Rasen last time, that gives the selection most to think about.
Wednesday’s selections:
1:50 Musselburgh – Return Ticket; 7/2 Bet365
3:40 Chepstow – Manvers House; 7/1 Betfred
