Paul Ferguson has two selections from Ffos Las for us on Saturday; Etamine du Cochet at 2.45 and Vision des Flos at 3.55. Compare odds and bet.
Ascot rightly takes centre stage this afternoon, but I’m heading to Ffos Las for today’s two selections, starting with Etamine du Cochet (2:45) in the mares’ maiden hurdle.
Nick Williams’ Aimee de Sivola brings some decent bumper form to the contest, but Dan Skelton’s filly ran a race full of promise on her sole start to date, in a juvenile hurdle at Warwick last November. The grey finished runner-up to subsequent dual Grade 1 winner We Have A Dream, while the third and fourth both won their next two starts, so the form is very strong indeed.
A reproduction of that form would clearly see her difficult to beat and the market should be a good guide to her fitness, after 11 months off. She’s had a wind-op since we last seen her and Skelton has saddled four winners since Tuesday, three of which were hurdling debutants.
This time last year I had high hopes for Vision des Flos (3:55) over hurdles and, though it took a bit of time before he came good, he ended the season on the up. Runner-up in Grade 1’s at Aintree and Punchestown, Colin Tizzard’s five-year-old is an athletic type who promises to be better over fences and he can win what looks to be a competitive novices’ chase.
Saturday’s selections:
2:45 Ffos Las – Etamine du Cochet; 11/10 PaddyPower
3:55 Ffos Las – Vision des Flos; 11/8 Ladbrokes
