David Bridgwater introduces an interesting hurdling debutant at Bangor on Wednesday, in the shape of Enrichissant (3:25) who ran in two Newbury bumpers for the trainer last season.
The four-year-old had run in France beforehand and really caught the eye on his British debut, when fourth behind Nicky Henderson’s Morning Vicar. He travelled up really strongly for today’s rider Aidan Coleman, before tying up inside the final furlong. It was a really encouraging effort and the runner-up gave the form a boost by bolting up next time.
The selection – along with the winner – then took his chance in the Listed bumper back at Newbury on Betfair Hurdle day and he struggled throughout in desperate conditions. That effort came just over three weeks after his British debut, so he can be forgiven the run and given both how he travelled on that first start and his Flat pedigree, he might well appreciate today’s sounder surface.
