Paul Ferguson has one selection for us on Thursday; Elarqam in the Salisbury 16:10. Compare odds and bet.
The drop to a mile ought to suit Elarqam (16:10) who is fancied to win for the first time at three, in Thursday’s Group 3 Sovereign Stakes at Salisbury.
Mark Johnston’s well-bred Frankel colt – out of Attraction – was two-from-two as a juvenile and made a pleasing return when fourth in the 2,000 Guineas, where he split Masar and Roaring Lion. After disappointing in the Irish equivalent, he bounced back at York last time, when the extended 1m2f trip proved to be his undoing. Having dictated matters throughout, he looked to have the race won, only to tie up inside the closing stages. That Guineas run is the best form on offer and he might get the run of the race once again here.
Thursday’s selection:
16:10 Salisbury – Elarqam; 5/4 bet365
