RECORDMAN (4.25) looks ready to break his duck at Chelmsford City. Saeed Bin Suroor’s son of Dubawi has been placed on his last three starts and Recordman’s latest third to Elasia and Ben Vrackie at Newcastle couldn’t have worked out any better. Elasia trotted up by four lengths at Kempton on Wednesday evening, while Ben Vrackie strolled home by 11 lengths next time at Lingfield.
ZAAKI (3.05) can win a cracking renewal of the Rose Of Lancaster Stakes at Haydock. Sir Michael Stoute’s colt is 12lb better off with Communique for his short head defeat at Newmarket 29 days ago, with the winner going in again at Goodwood to give the form a very solid appearance. Elwazir, a son of Frankel, has been impressive in winning both starts this summer and remains progressive.
Jim Goldie saddled Euchen Glen to win at Ascot’s Shergar Cup fixture 12 months ago and he sends NICHOLAS T (2.15) down from Scotland with stamina to prove in the 1m 4f Challenge Handicap.
Nicholas T finished second in the 2017 Shergar Cup Mile and has been campaigned mostly around 1m 2f, his best effort coming at Redcar when just denied by Big Country. The gelding will go off at decent odds and should be backed each-way. If stablemate Theglasgowwarrior (first reserve) gets a run he would also be of interest, while course winners Machine Learner and Koeman will command support.
VIA SERENDIPITY (2.50) has been being kept busy by Stuart Williams but is holding his form well. Seven furlongs was probably just on the sharp side when the gelding finished fourth to Burnt Sugar in the Gigaset International here at the end of July and stall 29 probably didn’t do him any favours.
CORELLI (3.25) hasn’t been seen since running a well-held third to Knight To Behold and Kew Gardens in the Lingfield Derby Trial in May. John Gosden has run his colt only four times and Corelli clearly has room for improvement. Last Sunday’s heavily-backed Chester winner Gossip Column is turned out quickly by Ian Williams under a 3lb penalty and may again try to dictate matters from the start.
