Paul Ferguson has one selection for us on Thursday; Gabr in the Newmarket 4.45. Compare odds and bet.
Down in grade GABR (4:45) can land the Listed Sir Henry Cecil Stakes on the opening day of Newmarket’s July meeting.
Sir Michael Stoute’s Intello colt made a pleasing reappearance when runner-up to Without Parole in the Heron Stakes at Sandown and though he was unable to get as close to that rival at Royal Ascot, his run in the St James’s Palace Stakes wasn’t without promise.
He was beaten 5¾ lengths in the Group 1 mile event last time, but was only just over a length off the 2,000 Guineas runner-up and one place in front of the Irish Guineas winner.
That piece of form stands out in this company and I’m not surprised that Jim Crowley has opted to ride him over the owners’ other runner Emaraaty, who is actually officially rated 5lbs higher.
Thursday’s selection:
4:45 Newmarket – Gabr; 3/1 Bet365
