Paul Ferguson has two selections for us on Saturday; Koditime in the 2.05 at Sandown and Istanbul Sultan in the Chester 2.40. Compare odds and bet.
Runner-up at Wetherby last month Istanbul Sultan (2:40) is fancied to get off the mark for the season at Chester this afternoon.
With the step up in trip likely to bring about improvement, William Haggas’ smooth-travelling grey can make the most of his plumb draw in stall one. He looked to hit a flat spot last time, after he had made a promising return at Newmarket. Hopefully, the ground won’t be too quick and he can win what looks a competitive little heat.
Down at Sandown Koditime (2:05) looks up to taking the step from handicaps into Listed company, in the opening Scurry Stakes.
An impressive winner at York on his reappearance, he bumped into a well-handicapped rival last time and deserves the step back up in grade. He contested group events last year – when showing promise on more than one occasion – and won’t mind the likely quick ground. The concern here is the wide draw, but he likes to come from behind, so hopefully he can be dropped in.
Saturday’s selections:
2:05 Sandown – Koditime; 3/1 Ladbrokes
2:40 Chester – Istanbul Sultan; 3/1 Bet365
