SEA YOUMZAIN (2.15) looks ready to go on a victory roll and will be hard to beat at Haydock.
Mark Johnston’s filly, a daughter of Sea The Stars, has been a slow-burner but following three placed efforts she broke her duck at Nottingham last month. That was a fine effort as Sea Youmzain fluffed the start, forfeiting five lengths before making steady headway to lead over a furlong out.
MUTHMIR (3.25) revels on fast ground and the William Haggas-trained sprinter should have conditions to suit in the Listed event.
He was out of his depth behind Battaaash in the Group 2 Temple Strakes over course and distance but wasn’t disgraced in fifth. Muthmir can edge out Judicial, a neck behind Mabs Cross in the Palace House Stakes at Newmarket on his seasonal return.
Luca Cumani doesn’t possess the strength in depth of his halcyon days but GOD GIVEN (2.50) can give the Newmarket maestro a Saturday winner in the Group 3 fillies’ contest.
Her fourth to Barsanti at Ascot last month, when leading until over a furlong out, was a solid run and God Given gets the nod over good York third Cribbs Causeway.
At Musselburgh, REVEREND JACOBS (1.55) should make light of an 8lb rise for last month’s York success over the gambled-on Zeelander, while later on the card COLOUR CONTRAST (4.55) can snap a frustrating sequence of second prizes, the most recent being a neck defeat at Hamilton.
