Paul Ferguson has two selections from Aintree for us on Friday; Vision de Flos in the 2.20 and Min at 3.25.
Runner-up in the Queen Mother Champion Chase last time Min (3:25) can land this afternoon’s Melling Chase at Aintree, with Altior not in opposition.
Willie Mullins’ seven-year-old travelled supremely well at Cheltenham and won’t have a problem with prevailing ground conditions (should we get more rain). The trip is the concern – only won once over it in a 3-runner race – but I think he will stay and will have the beating of fellow Irish raider Balko des Flos.
Earlier on the card, Global Citizen heads the betting in the Top Novices’ Hurdle, but I would take him on (hopefully at an each-way price) with Vision des Flos (2:20) who shaped really well in the Ballymore behind Samcro last time.
The five-year-old didn’t stay that day, but earlier showed the benefit of a wind-op when winning impressively at Exeter. He represents last year’s winning connections and will appreciate this sharper test.
Friday’s selections:
2:20 Aintree – Vision des Flos; 5/1 BetVictor
3:25 Aintree – Min; 5/4 Bet365
