Paul Ferguson two selections from Kempton for us on Saturday; Lord Duveen in the 1:30 and Rhythm Is A Dancer at 5:00.
Off the track since making an encouraging debut at Exeter in October Lord Duveen (1:30) is worth noting in the opening novices’ hurdle at Kempton on Saturday.
Closely related to Balthazar King, the son of Doyen only gave best late on and that looked a strong event, which has produced several subsequent winners. He will probably need further in time, but he has been in my notebook since that debut and, despite concerns over the form of the Philip Hobbs yard (has saddled three winners away from Cheltenham this week, in fairness), he is of definite interest here.
Later on the card, I am keen to see Rhythm Is A Dancer (5:00) improve on his second over course-and-distance in the concluding bumper. Paul Nicholls’ Norse Dancer five-year-old shaped with promise behind a potentially exciting winner and, under similar conditions, he sets the standard.
Saturday’s selections:
1:30 Kempton – Lord Duveen; 5/2 Ladbrokes
5:00 Kempton – Rhythm Is A Dancer; 9/2 Paddy Power
