Paul Ferguson has one selection for us on Sunday; Articulum in the Thurles 13:50. Compare odds and bet.
Today’s extended 2m6f novice hurdle at Thurles is a competitive affair, but ARTICULUM (1:50) was a smart bumper horse the season before last and created a deep impression on his hurdles debut.
Terence O’Brien’s eight-year-old won a brace of 2m3f heavy ground bumpers before running in the Grade 1 at Punchestown. After a season on the sidelines, he bolted up by 35 lengths at Cork and, though the form isn’t strong, it was visually impressive.
The fact he has been given a couple of months to get over that is viewed as a positive and he shaped like a stayer in bumpers, so should get today’s trip. He’ll relish the ground and he might well cope with conditions better than the rest.
Of the opposition, Dortmund Park was a horse I really liked in France and he got off the mark on New Year’s Day. He will need to step forward considerably here, however.
Sunday’s selection:
1:50 Thurles – Articulum; 2/1 William Hill
