Paul Ferguson has two selections for us on Saturday; Perfect Harmony in the Ascot 12:20 and The Worlds End 14:25 at haydock. Compare odds and bet.
Haydock’s Betfair Stayers Handicap Hurdle looks an absolute cracker this afternoon, in which THE WORLDS END (2:25) makes his seasonal debut.
Tom George’s Aintree Grade 1 winner won here back in February and a mark of 149 might not prove beyond him – indeed, if he is to develop into a genuine World Hurdle contender, he would need to be going very close this afternoon.
This is a deep looking race, however, and it is his first start of the season on testing ground. With that in mind, I would back the selection each-way and the other one I like in the contest is Sam Spinner who ran well in the Silver Trophy (worked out well since) and ought to handle the conditions.
Down at Ascot PERFECT HARMONY (12:20) is worthy of support in the opening novices’ hurdle and, again, hopefully the price will mean he can be backed each-way.
Only fourth on his reappearance at Aintree (winner won since), he should appreciate today’s sterner test of stamina and he receives weight from most of his likely main rivals – I have plenty of respect for Palmers Hill who looked a smart recruit on debut at Uttoxeter.
Alan King’s five-year-old strode out really well when winning a Newbury bumper last term and today’s galloping track should suit. He looks capable of going well under Ian Popham.
Saturday’s selections:
12:20 Ascot – Perfect Harmony; 7/2 Stan James
2:25 Haydock – The Worlds End; 11/2 Betfred
