Kempton stages a decent card for a Monday today, with the Pertemps Qualifier one of the more interesting races.
Bags Groove impressed when winning with authority at Aintree last time, but LE BREUIL (2:55) was a horse I liked this time last year and he won his first two starts over hurdles.
On the second occasion he beat Benatar by 9 lengths, form that now reads well. Given that rival finished fourth when they met again at Aintree, it is probably safe to put a line through that run. He returns on a fair mark and this track should suit.
Another that also ran in that Mersey Novices’ Hurdle BRIO CONTI (1:30) can make a winning chasing debut up at Carlisle.
Paul Nicholls’ smooth travelling grey looks every inch a chaser and it will be disappointing if he doesn’t develop into a smart novice.
