Paul Ferguson has two selections for us on Sunday; Irish Prophecy in the 13:50 and The Butcher Said 16:00 both at Sandown. Compare odds and bet.
Sandown stages the pick of the action on Sunday, with Might Bite the main attraction for many, in the Listed intermediate chase.
IRISH PROPHECY (1:50) is a horse that created a good impression in winning a brace of bumpers last term and he looks the one to beat in the maiden hurdle. Emma Lavelle will be hoping for a dry weekend, as her four-year-old appeared to relish a decent surface last term and he doesn’t look short of speed.
There is a slight concern about the form of the Lavelle stable, although it was slightly reassuring to see her saddle a winner at Warwick on Friday.
Elsewhere on the card Maria’s Benefit looks on a potentially lenient mark in the 2m handicap hurdle, but THE BUTCHER SAID (4:00) gets the vote as the day’s second selection, in the concluding bumper.
Runner-up at the Punchestown Festival when trained by Emmet Mullins, the Robin Des Champs four-year-old has since joined Warren Greatrex and his form now reads pretty well with the third and fourth winning a trio of bumpers between them subsequently. The winner Roaring Bull has also franked the form by winning over hurdles at Tipperary last month and The Butcher Said sets a high standard.
Sunday’s selections:
1:50 Sandown – Irish Prophecy; 5/6 PaddyPower
4:00 Sandown – The Butcher Said; 1/1 BetVictor
