Unsuccessful in four starts last term – refused to race on his third outing – BIGIRONONHISHIP (3:35) remains a young horse of some potential and can strike at Hexham on Friday.
Rose Dobbin’s former winning Irish pointer ran his best race over fences on debut, when bumping into the smart Calett Mad at Newcastle. A heavy ground hurdles winner at this sort of trip, I would imagine he will be ridden prominently going down in distance and this might be the day to catch him.
The selection was available around 3-1 (7-2 in a place) on Thursday evening.
Down at Fontwell, keep an eye on Paul Nicholls’ French recruit Risk And Roll in the opener. Early season juvenile events wouldn’t normally be my thing, but he caught my eye when fourth in a Listed event at Auteuil and he could be a smart prospect. He’s priced up accordingly.
