Paul Ferguson has two selections for us on Saturday; Limited Reserve in the Market Rasen 15:55 and Brelade 17:10 at Gowran Park. Compare odds and bet.
Market Rasen stages a decent jumps card this afternoon and Limited Reserve (3:55) looks worthy of each-way support in the competitive Listed handicap hurdle.
Christian Williams’ five-year-old made steady progress in handicap company last term, winning twice during December – when still in the care of Paul Morgan – at Sandown and Ffos Las, before finishing a sound second at Haydock in April. The winner of that contest Stamp Your Feet went on to run well at the Punchestown Festival and finished fourth at Newton Abbot recently.
Easy ground isn’t a concern for the selection, who won on soft ground at Ffos Las, and he carries a nice low weight this afternoon. A strongly run race appears to suit and he has gone well fresh in the past.
Over in Ireland Brelade (5:10) is fancied to make a winning debut over fences in the concluding contest at Gowran Park.
Gordon Elliott’s Presenting gelding won a bumper and maiden hurdle last November, before finishing placed in a couple of Grade 1s at Leopardstown. Sixth in the Neptune at Cheltenham, he ran better than the bare result might suggest, travelling strongly to the foot of the hill before tiring on the run to the last. You can put a line through his final run, which probably came too quickly, and this 2m2f trip looks ideal as a springboard to what could be a fruitful campaign.
