Off the track since winning at Nottingham in May COEUR DE LION (3:10) is very much one to note in Newmarket’s Cesarewitch Trial.
Well backed that day, Alan King’s four-year-old had made giant strides as a juvenile hurdler since his earlier exploits on the level and he remains very much unexposed as a stayer.
Admittedly, that Nottingham form didn’t really work out but he was doing his best work late on and this longer trip should, therefore, be right up his street. Much more is required this afternoon, but a mark of 79 still looks more than fair judged on his hurdles form and he might just be overlooked in the market after his lay-off.
