Paul Ferguson two selections for us on Sunday; Rhododrendron in the 3.05 at Chanttilly and Its All Guesswork in the 5.35 at Downpatrick. Compare odds and bet.
The Prix de Diane was pinpointed as the target for Shutter Speed after she won the Musidora and, while she is hugely respected, I’m not sure she should be favourite ahead of Rhododendron (3:05) purely on form.
Admittedly, she has been aimed at this race, whereas Aidan O’Brien’s filly only entered the equation towards the end of the week. A 16-day break after a hard race at Epsom isn’t exactly ideal, but her form in finishing runner-up in both the 1,000 Guineas and the Oaks stands out here and, at the prices (5-2 and 9-4 in places at the time of writing), she is given the nod.
Over in Ireland, Punchestown Festival runner-up Its All Guesswork (5:35) can land the lady riders’ bumper at Downpatrick, under Lisa O’Neill.
Gordon Elliott’s five-year-old stayed on strongly under Jamie Codd last time and this slightly longer trip should be right up his street.
