Richard Hannon’s ALMOREB (7:00) had a couple of subsequent winners in behind – including Tuesday’s winner Rigoletto – when shedding his maiden tag and can follow up at Sandown this evening.
He moved well during that Newbury contest, which is working out well, and an opening mark of 82 seems fair. Easy ground isn’t a concern and the Hannon yard continue in good form.
Of the opposition, Surrey Hope won a decent Kempton maiden when last sighted in March, while Pivoine surely has more to offer than he showed at Newbury on his reappearance. It might pay to watch this handicap closely.
