Aintree’s Grand National meeting gets underway with a cracking renewal of the Manifesto Novices’ Chase, in which Top Notch heads the market.
His JLT second behind Yorkhill reads particularly well, but so does the Arkle second of CLOUDY DREAM (1:40) who could improve for the step up in trip.
The grey was impressive in winning his first two starts over fences and he travelled really well behind Altior last time. He’s had two days longer to recover and has had one less race this season than the market leader and, at the prices, I prefer Malcolm Jefferson’s seven-year-old.
The mares’ bumper that concludes the card looks a wide open heat, but I’m hopeful that both Shearling and Dame Rose will go well. Keep an eye on both in the market.
