Paul Ferguson has two selections for us on Saturday; Gaitway 13;50 and Kayf Blanco 15:00 both at Sandown. Compare odds and bet.
This year’s Imperial Cup doesn’t look the strongest of renewals and, given his effort in better company earlier in the season, Kayf Blanco (3:00) looks worthy of each-way support in the Sandown feature.
Fifth in the Betfair Hurdle four weeks ago, he had earlier finished less than 5 lengths off Champion Hurdle-bound Brain Power over course-and-distance, and, though he has doesn’t win too often and occasionally appears to be out-paced around two out, he should go well in what looks a lesser contest.
The Graeme McPherson horses remain in good order and the eight-year-old sports a first time hood and tongue-tie this afternoon. He was trading at 12-1 (Paddy Power) at the time of writing.
Earlier on the card Gaitway (1:50) is another that warrants each-way support in a wide-open looking EBF Final.
The seven-year-old has clearly been difficult to train since beating Tea For Two in a Newbury bumper, but got off the mark at the second time of asking over hurdles at Musselburgh recently.
After more than two years on the sidelines, he can be expected to continue to improve and he shapes as though the longer trip should suit. He looks worth chancing at the odds (trading at 11-1 at the time of writing).
