After missing the concluding contest at Cheltenham last Saturday due to the ground Drumcliff (3:15) can land this afternoon’s Bet365 Scottish County Hurdle at Musselburgh.
He looked an unlucky loser at Kempton over Christmas, when bumped two out and William H Bonney (actually the horse that caused that inconvenience) came out to frank that form by winning the race he missed last weekend. Available at 11-4 on Friday afternoon, he looks a solid market leader with conditions to suit.
Behind Time also represents the same connections, Harry Fry and JP McManus, in the competitive handicap hurdle at Sandown and he is greatly respected, but I marginally prefer El Terremoto (3:00) who looks a shade more streetwise.
The step up in trip really ought to suit Nigel Twiston-Davies’ runner, who won a maiden at Stratford and a handicap at Haydock earlier in the season. Third behind Clyne and Le Rocher (both franked the form since) last time, the five-year-old won’t mind the likely soft ground and should go well. He should be backed each-way.
