Paul Ferguson has two selections from Goodwood for us on Wednesday; The Cashel Man at 2.00 and Galileo Gold at 3.10. Compare odds and bet.
A winner at this meeting 12 months ago, when successful in the Vintage Stakes, GALILEO GOLD (3:10) is fancied to confirm St James’s Palace Stakes form in this afternoon’s Sussex Stakes.
Hugo Palmer’s 2,000 Guineas winner was well ridden at Royal Ascot, holding a handy position throughout and, given the nature of Goodwood, I’d be surprised if he was ridden differently here.
Given his potent turn of foot, he might be difficult to peg back once being committed for home off the front end.
Earlier on the card THE CASHEL MAN (2:00) ought to go well in the opening 2m5f Goodwood Stakes.
David Simcock’s four-year-old will appreciate returning to good-to-firm ground and ran a cracker under such conditions on his penultimate start at York.
He shapes as though the marathon trip will suit and, no doubt, Jamie Spencer will be keen to hold on to him, before playing his hand late.
Wednesday’s selections:
2:00 Goodwood – The Cashel Man; 13/2 William Hill
3:10 Goodwood – Galileo Gold; 2/1 Coral
