Paul Ferguson has one selection for us on Monday; Altruism in the Cartmel 16:25. Compare odds and bet.
Course specialist Altruism (4:25) is back in action at Cartmel on Monday and, despite his inexperience over fences, the likeable six-year-old is fancied to land the Weatherbys Hamilton Handicap Chase.
Jimmy Moffatt’s stable star won twice over hurdles here last summer and returned to the trainer’s local track to make a successful chase debut, over today’s distance, in May. Though Desoto County (close second) was beaten next time, there was a lot to like about the way the winner got the job done and the runner-up didn’t truly stay when upped in distance last time.
On the same card, Altruism reverted to hurdles and ran away with a competitive looking handicap, off a mark of 133. He runs off the same mark here and, if he can jump as fluently as he did on debut, he will be difficult to peg back, in his bid to make it five from five at the course.
He is likely to be taken on for the lead today by 2015 Grand Annual winner Next Sensation, who continues to fall in the weights, but doesn’t quite look the force of old at present – it is still a slight concern, that he might not get an easy lead today. Next Sensation has dropped from 151 last October, to 129 here.
