Paul Ferguson has one selection for us on Saturday; Arab Poet in the Sandown 13:40. Compare odds and bet.
Sir Michael Stoute and Ryan Moore teamed up to take Sandown’s opener 12 months ago with Grand Inquisitor and they can repeat the trick this afternoon with Arab Poet (1:40).
The chestnut, who won an all-weather maiden at the backend of last season, shaped well behind subsequent Silver Bowl winner Garcia at Beverley (King’s Pavilion finished last of five and has also won since) before finishing fourth in a warm handicap at Goodwood.
Keen early on, he was switched right across from his wide draw and only went down by 1¼ lengths in the end. Up just 1lb for that effort, the Poet’s Voice colt looks as though he will appreciate this more orthodox track and the stiff finish might play to his strengths. He looks capable of landing a handicap from his current mark.
Saturday’s selection:
1:40 Sandown: Arab Poet; 11/8 Skybet
