Brighton & Hove Albion narrowly missed out on automatic promotion to the Premier League and the Seagulls must now duke it out in the Championship play-offs.
Chris Hughton’s team have a double header against Sheffield Wednesday for the chance to reach the Wembley final, with Stan James making Albion a 5/2 chance to reach the top flight through the scenic route.
Hull City are also 5/2 (BetVictor) and Steve Bruce has guided the Tigers to Premier League promotion before, although they face Derby County in the play-offs and the Rams won both matches during the regular season.
County have had a strange season, having spent lots of money under Paul Clement before the former Real Madrid coach was axed. However, Derby are 11/4 (bet365) to enjoy promotion, while Sheffield Wednesday are as big as 4/1 (Paddy Power) to get the job done.
Bradford City are 11/4 (bet365) to enjoy a return to the Championship, with the Bantams having enjoyed seven wins from their past nine matches to secure a play-off spot and a clash against Millwall.
Indeed, City haven’t conceded in their previous three matches, although the Lions also finished the campaign strongly with four wins on the bounce and Neil Harris will be feeling confident. The London side are a 3/1 chance (BetVictor) to land promotion.
Walsall are slight favourites at 5/2 (bet365) to jump up a division, with the Saddlers having narrowly missed out on automatic promotion, while Barnsley can’t be ruled out either at 7/2 (William Hill).
Portsmouth were pre-season favourites to win League Two and Paul Cook’s side also head the play-off market, with Paddy Power offering 2/1.
Although Pompey are well-supported, this carries a certain type of pressure and perhaps Plymouth are a better shout at 4/1 (William Hill), with Argyle having recently won at Fratton Park in the league.
Accrington and AFC Wimbledon meet in the other semi-final, with Stanley agonisingly falling short of automatic promotion although they are 11/4 (bet365) to get the job done through the play-offs.
The Dons are 7/2 (bet365) to enjoy League One status next season and that spot is certainly up for grabs considering the play-offs are such a lottery.
