Paul Ferguson has two selections for us on Saturday; Briyouni in the 520 at Beverley and Starchitect in the 7.20 at Salisbury. Compare odds and bet.
At the top of his game over hurdles of late Starchitect (7:20) can make a successful return to the Flat at Salisbury on Saturday evening.
David Pipe’s five-year-old finished runner-up in the Betfair Hurdle, fifth in the County and third at Aintree before scoring at Newton Abbot off a mark of 143 earlier this month, proving he remains on an upward curve.
The Sea The Stars gelding only had four starts (without success) on the level in Ireland before joining the Rooney’s and he looks open to considerable improvement at this sort of trip. An opening mark of 82 looks potentially lenient if translating that smart handicap hurdles form.
Earlier in the day up at Beverley Briyouni (5:20) can follow up last Sunday’s Nottingham success under a 6lb penalty, in the concluding 7f handicap.
Kevin Ryan’s three-year-old proved much better than his opening mark of 69 last weekend and, given how easily he moved to the front, today’s drop in trip shouldn’t prove too much of an inconvenience. He ought to be tough to beat under top weight.
Saturday’s selections:
5:20 Beverley: Briyouni
7:20 Salisbury: Starchitect
