Paul Ferguson has two selections for us on Saturday; Intimation Newmarket 14:00 and Slowmotion in the 15:50 at Punchestown. Compare odds and bet.
It’s 2,000 Guineas day at Newmarket where the opening handicap can go the way of Sir Michael Stoute’s INTIMATION (2:00).
The Dubawi filly, who holds a Group 1 entry, won both starts last season and still looks ahead of the handicapper on a mark of 90.
The four-year-old handles an ease in the ground, so any rain won’t be an inconvenience. It will be disappointing if she can’t win a nice handicap before stepping up in class.
The opening Classic of the season looks Air Force Blue’s to lose, but he is priced accordingly and softening ground would be an unknown.
Over at Punchestown, Limini will be all the rage in the Grade 1 Mares Champion Hurdle, but SLOWMOTION (3:50) looks a huge threat and appeals as a solid each-way alternative.
The Soldier Of Fortune filly gets a handy 10lbs four-year-old allowance and she looked a potential star when winning at Fairyhouse over Easter, having appeared to blow up on her Irish debut the time before.
She was trading at 9/2 at the time of writing, though I suspect she might be a shade shorter come post time.
