Grand National sixth ROYALE KNIGHT (2:45) isn’t as good over hurdles but he remains on a much lower mark over timber and he makes some appeal at Plumpton today.
Dr Newland’s 10-year-old warmed up for Aintree with a narrow second off the mark over hurdles at Chepstow last March and s reproduction of that effort might be good enough here.
The form of his Durham National success worked out well thanks to the runner-up and, though connections will have an eye on Aintree, he can go well today.
