Paul Ferguson has one selection for us on Monday; Midnight Cowboy in the Kempton 15:10. Compare odds and bet.
Kempton stages an interesting card on Monday, with Champion Bumper third Wait For Me bidding to make it two from three over hurdles in the first division of the 2m novices’ hurdle, while Stellar Notion bids to bounce back on a course at which he scored last Christmas.
The latter should relish the step back up in trip and returning to a track that clearly suits, but Barakilla is another who will appreciate going back up in distance and this is fairly competitive, as you might expect for a 0-145 contest.
Impressive Cheltenham handicap winner A Hare Breath was trading around 4-6 overnight for the 2m5f novices’ hurdle and, while his form entitles him to be clear favourite, Midnight Cowboy (3:10) is interesting going up in distance and is worth backing each-way (7-1 overnight).
Alan King’s five-year-old finished runner-up in a soft ground bumper here on debut and again shaped well in a decent event at Sandown on his reappearance, before finishing third behind a couple of useful prospects on his hurdles bow.
The grey son of Midnight Legend runs as if he will appreciate this extra five furlongs and he could be the one that gives the market leader a race. If not, I’d be hopeful that he could hit the frame.
