Paul Ferguson two selections from Cheltenham for us on Friday; A Hare Breath in the 1.10 and One Track Mind at 2.55. Compare odds and bet.
Four weeks after landing a gamble at the same track A Hare Breath (1:10) is taken to follow up off a 12lb higher mark at Cheltenham on Friday.
The lightly raced seven-year-old was clearly some way ahead of the handicapper when making a winning debut for the Ben Pauling stable last month and he won with a fair bit in hand. The softer ground shouldn’t be much of an inconvenience and he can take this before having a crack at something a bit better (has been spoken of as a possible for Newbury’s Betfair Hurdle). The selection opened up 3-1 on Thursday evening, but was quickly into 9-4.
Later on the card, the staying handicap hurdle looks more competitive, but One Track Mind (2:55) looked a smart novice last term and can make a winning reappearance for the in-form Warren Greatrex stable.
The Flemensfirth five-year-old could improve significantly for today’s step up in trip and a mark of 139 might well underestimate him. Thought good enough to contest the Challow Hurdle last Christmas, he looks worthy of each-way support
There are several possible dangers, including Oscarteea who looks one to note at much bigger odds.
Friday’s selections:
1:10 Cheltenham: A Hare Breath; 2/1 bet365
2:55 Cheltenham: One Track Mind; 5/1 Boylesports
