Paul Ferguson has one selection for us on Sunday; Winner Massagot in the Sandown 15:00. Compare odds and bet.
The deteriorating ground is a slight concern for the chances of Winner Massagot (3:00) but you would assume that Alan King would pull out his four-year-old if he thought the ground were too soft. That aside, he looks potentially well-handicapped.
Reported to have disliked the soft ground when twice well beaten at Newbury last winter, he got off the mark at Kempton in the spring before King pitched his chestnut into Grade 1 company at Aintree.
A faller on that occasion, he begins the season on a lenient looking mark (123) and it will be disappointing if he can’t record a victory or two when conditions are right.
Over at Navan Tycoon Prince is fancied to lower the colours of smart ex-Flat performer Thomas Hobson in the Grade 3 ‘For Auction’ Novice Hurdle, but I suspect he will be pretty short. The price will determine if he is a bet.
Sunday’s selection:
3:00 Sandown Winner Massagot
