Paul Ferguson has two selections from Stratford for us on Thursday; Its A Sting in the 2.40 and Charbel at 4.10. Compare odds and bet.
Stratford stages a really interesting card on Thursday, where African Gold returns to action and he is just one of a clutch of interesting prospects on show.
Arguably the most interesting of all comes in the concluding EBF novices’ hurdle, in the shape of Kim Bailey’s expensive purchase CHARBEL (4:10).
Impressive in winning a couple of bumpers in Ireland, he finished fourth in the Grade 1 at Punchestown on his final start for Thomas Mullins and he rates a seriously exciting recruit.
Earlier, Wholestone is worth noting in the staying maiden hurdle, as he created a decent impression on his racecourse debut and has since been purchased by leading connections. Given how he finished on debut, I’m not sure the tight track will be ideal, however, so he maybe best watched, especially as this looks a fairly warm event.
The day’s other selection, therefore, falls the way of Oliver Sherwood’s ITS A STING (2:40) in the novices’ handicap chase.
The Scorpion six-year-old looks potentially well treated on his bumper win over The Grey Taylor and his second over hurdles at Ascot last November. A free-going sort, he is one that should be suited by the configuration of this track and he jumped hurdles like he would take to fences.
Thursday’s selections:
2:40 Stratford – Its A Sting; 3/1 bet365
4:10 Stratford – Charbel; 1/1 bet365
