Paul Ferguson has two selections for us on Thursday; Board Of Trade in the Uttoxeter 2.55 and Shantou Village in the Carlisle 3.50. Compare odds and bet.
Given the subsequent exploits of Roadie Joe, it isn’t surprising that A Little Magic is trading fairly short at Uttoxeter this afternoon, but Board Of Trade (2:55) impressed in winning a couple of bumpers last term and is worth chancing at the prices.
The Black Sam Bellamy gelding clearly possesses plenty of speed and he looked particularly impressive when making it two from two at Haydock in mid-March. Alan King’s four-year-old looks an exciting recruit to hurdles and, though he faces a horse that sets a very decent standard, he might be up to making a winning debut under Wayne Hutchinson. He was available at 5-2 overnight.
Up at Carlisle, another hurdling newcomer stands out. The winner of a point-to-point in Ireland, Shantou Village (3:50) won a Wetherby bumper on his debut under rules and looks another really smart prospect.
The five-year-old travelled with consummate ease in his bumper and both successes to date came on good ground. He reappears over a trip that should suit and while Neil Mulholland has his horses in tip top shape. He opened up around 10-11 on Wednesday evening and it will be disappointing if he relinquishes his 100% record.
Thursday’s selections:
2:55 Uttoxeter: Board Of Trade; 5/2 William Hill
3:50 Carlisle: Shantou Village; 4/9 William Hill
