Paul Ferguson two selections from York for us on Friday; Curbyourenthusiasm in the 1.55 and Acapulco and 3.40. Compare odds and bet.
David Simcock’s CURBYOURENTHUSIASM (1:55) really caught the eye when runner-up here at York last month and the improving four-year-old is fancied to return to winning ways in this afternoon’s opener.
The grey, who had earlier won a couple of quick ground handicaps at Windsor, travelled supremely well last time, only to go down by 1/4 of a length to Ebor hopeful Wadi Al Hattawi.
Being upped a further 6lbs is rather frustrating, but the Mastercraftsman gelding certainly remains a horse of considerable promise and, despite being drawn in stall 20, he can strike under Jamie Spencer.
He has placed form on a softer surface and should be supported each-way in what looks a typically competitive renewal.
Later on the card ACAPULCO (3:40) can become the first two-year-old winner of the Nunthorpe since Kingsgate Native back in 2007.
The American trained filly looked something special when running away with the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot and will feel as though she has been let loose, in receipt of both her age and sex allowances.
If the ground continues to ease, that would have to be a slight concern, but hopefully it will dry out overnight and during day three. If she copes with conditions, she will be difficult to peg back under her featherweight.
Friday’s selection:
1:55 York – Curbyourenthusiasm; 7/1 Skybet
3:40 York – Acapulco; 2/1 William Hill
