Paul Ferguson has two selections from Ascot for us on Sunday; Zarib in the 3.05 and Un Ace at 3.40. Compare odds and bet.
With Top Gamble sure to make it a true test over 2m1f, Cheltenham disappointment Un Ace (3:40) is taken to bounce back in the novices’ handicap chase at Ascot on Sunday.
Kim Bailey’s seven-year-old had quickly made up into smart novice in the early part of the season and he ought to relish the quicker conditions, while the top-weight would surely prefer a softer surface.
Given the conditions, both Chris Pea Green and Royal Regatta are also respected, but Un Ace looks to have a nice prize in him and connections have presumably opted to run here rather than to wait for Aintree.
Earlier on the card Zarib (3:05) is taken to land the four-year-old handicap hurdle, for Dan and Harry Skelton.
The Azamour gelding travelled really strongly to the foot of the hill in the Fred Winter and, if he is over those Cheltenham exertions, he really ought to go close off the same mark.
A winner at Newbury and Wincanton earlier in the season, he is another who looks capable of winning again before the season is out and he, too, could have waited for Aintree, so it is assumed he has come out of Cheltenham well.
Sunday’s selections:
3:05 Ascot: Zarib; 5/2 Boylesports
3:40 Ascot: Un Ace; 4/1 Coral
