Though our selection from the yard was a disappointment, Donald McCain saddled a treble at Kelso yesterday, again hinting that his string were turning a corner, and he can strike again at Musselburgh this afternoon.
After winning a bumper at Haydock last November Desoto County (2:20) bumped into a smart sort in the shape of Stellar Notion under his penalty, before winning twice from four starts in novice hurdle company.
The grey kicks off the season on a decent looking mark (123) and, with the step up in trip likely to be suitable on such a sharp track, he can strike on his favoured decent ground (hopefully there won’t have been much rain overnight). The selection was trading at 4-1 overnight.
