Live on Sky Sports 4: Thu 04:00 Angus Loughran previews the 2014 OHL Classic and Turkish Open tournaments.
The Turkish Airlines Open, on a course designed by Colin Montgomorie, has attracted a superb European field with eight members of September’s successful Ryder Cup team taking part, along with several of the players chasing a place in the top 60 of the rankings leading to qualification for the end of season finale in Dubai – the DP World Championship.
Sergio Garcia, Henrik Stenson and U.S Open Champion Martin Kaymer all head the betting at 12/1 but I like the chances of three longer-priced runners this week.
Alexander Levy available at 30/1, Thorburn Olesen at 33/1 and 33/1 shot George Coetzee, who has tapped into a rich vein of form since watching Europe’s Ryder Cup heroics from the fairways whilst working for BBC Radio.
It’s only the second staging of this event but by generating such a strong field it looks likely to be a regular stop for European Golf in the future and it promises to be a big week.
The OHL Classic on The PGA Tour looks like another lottery for punters with defending champion Harris English an uneasy market leader and most firms going 20/1 the field.
Chris Stroud at 33/1 has a great record here and should give backers a good run for their money while Brian Stuard looks overpriced at 40/1 having been twice runner up in 2013 and 2010.
The European season ends next week with Rory Mcllroy assured of leading the money list having won the BMW PGA, Open Championship and PGA titles.
His performances since that memorable final day at Wentworth in May have left us in no doubt who the current number one in the world is and there promises to be some spectacular action to look forward to in 2015.
Good luck
Angus Loughran
