Paul Ferguson has two selections for us on Wednesday; Southfield Royale in the Fontwell 12:40 and Ma Du Fou in the 1.20 at Wetherby. Compare odds and bet.
Warren Greatrex boasts a tremendous strike-rate at Wetherby this season (71%) having saddled five winners from seven runners and the in-form Lambourn trainer can increase that impressive tally with Ma Du Fou (1:20) on Wednesday.
The four-year-old was an impressive bumper winner at the course in April and, having since changed hands, the Le Fou gelding is fancied to maintain his 100% record and make a winning debut for his new owners, with the easy ground unlikely to pose any problems.
Down at Fontwell, Neil Mulholland also saddles an exciting hurdling debutant in the shape of Market Rasen bumper winner Southfield Royale (12:40) a half-brother to smart novice chaser, Southfield Theatre.
Another impressive winner (may have gone unnoticed as the race was during Royal Ascot week), the Presenting gelding is well bred, potentially a smart recruit and, while he may well appreciate a better surface, the step up to 2m4f should not be an inconvenience.
The overnight tissue prices have the Charlie Longsdon trained Coologue as an odds-on favourite and, though he is respected judged on his promising second at Uttoxeter, Mulholland will know what is required as he saddled Minella Present to beat him last time.
Wednesday’s selections:
12:40 Fontwell: Southfield Royale; 11/8 Coral
1:20 Wetherby: Ma Du Fou; 4/6 William Hill
