Paul Ferguson has one selection for us on Wednesday; Kentucky Hyden in the Bangor 15:00. Compare odds and bet.
Sign Of A Victory and Volnay De Thaix have made a mockery of their handicap marks on their respective first starts of the season for Nicky Henderson in recent weeks and Kentucky Hyden (3:00) is fancied to continue the trend at Bangor on Wednesday.
The imposing chestnut finished runner-up at the top level twice last term, including in the Triumph Hurdle, as well as chasing home Le Rocher at Cheltenham on Trials Day (also finished behind the same rival over Christmas at Chepstow).
He handles testing ground, should conditions deteriorate overnight, and he also scored at the first time of asking last season, when barely coming out of a hack canter to make a winning British debut at Sandown a year ago.
This looks a fairly competitive little heat, but the selection is probably the one horse in the line-up with aspirations of racing at a higher level this term and the opening 2/1 (Tuesday evening) should be taken.
Wednesday’s selection:
3:00 Bangor-On-Dee: Kentucky Hyden; 2/1 Boylesports
