Paul Ferguson has two selections from Ayr on Monday; Chidswell in the 1.20 and Looking Well at 1.50. Compare odds and bet.
Nicky Richards provided this column with a nice winner last week, in the shape of Duke Of Navan, and the trainer unleashes a couple of exciting once-raced bumper winners over hurdles at Ayr on Monday.
First up is Chidswell (1:20) who won a Newcastle bumper in taking fashion the best part of a year ago and has deliberately been given plenty of time by Richards.
The patient approach is not unusual with yard’s smart youngsters and the form of his debut success now reads well, with runner-up Degooch (also runs today, incidentally) going on to win four times since.
Half-an-hour later, it’s the turn of Looking Well (1:50) who, like Chidswell, is a son of Gold Well, and he, too, went in to the notebook when making a winning racecourse debut, at Perth in April.
The five-year-old defied greenness to lower the colours of Major Ivan (re-opposes again today) and he can make the most of the 6lbs he receives from likely market leader, Hurricane Hollow.
Monday’s selections:
1:20 Ayr: Chidswell; 5/4 bet365
1:50 Ayr: Looking Well; 4/1 bet365
