Charlie Longsdon continues to fire in the winners and Sergeant Mattie (4:00) is taken to add to his tally in the Kalahari King Beginners’ Chase at Uttoxeter on Sunday.
The six-year-old was a nimble jumper over hurdles who always promised to improve further for fences and the in-form trainer has wasted little time in getting the former winning Irish pointer over the larger obstacles.
Earlier on the card Minella Present (2:50) can take the conditional jockeys’ maiden hurdle for another in-form trainer, Neil Mulholland.
The five-year-old won a Chepstow bumper in March, before chasing home an exciting prospect at Wetherby the following month. The son of Presenting looks a nice sort for novice hurdles and will relish the step up in trip.
