Paul Ferguson has one selection for us on Saturday; Solstice Son in the Fontwell 14:50. Compare odds and bet.
It’s good to be back following my midweek break, during which the National Hunt season cranked up another gear and, indeed, the evergreen Sizing Europe returns to the track over in Ireland today.
Fontwell stages the domestic jumps action, where Solstice Son (2:50) is fancied to make a winning debut over fences in the novices’ handicap chase.
The handicapper appeared to catch up with Anthony Honeyball’s five-year-old over hurdles when last sighted, but he has the size and scope to improve for fences and, though he will probably be better served with 3m, he can defy top weight under Aidan Coleman. He was trading at 3-1 overnight.
Earlier on the card, Philip Hobbs’ Brother Tedd is one to note in the opening novices’ hurdle, but this looks a competitive little contest and Mile House impressed when scoring at Stratford in late August, so the race is best watched.
