Live on Sky Sports 3: Sat 12.45: Peter Sharkey has four Scottish Premiership picks this week, including a 15/2 treble at BetVictor.
The international break over, domestic league action takes centre stage once more as teams endeavour to either recapture early-season momentum, or else discover it for the first time since the new campaign began.
Unusually, Celtic and Aberdeen find themselves off the pace and will seek to improve upon their indifferent starts when they meet at Parkhead on Saturday, mindful of the league table’s volatility at this point in the campaign.
Not surprisingly, the Dons arrive in Glasgow priced as Stan James’s 6/1 underdogs to take three points. The pair’s recent history accounts for this as in four contests last term, the Hoops won three while Aberdeen managed only a single success, a record which prompts BetVictor.com to install Celtic as their 1/2 favourites to take three points.
Meanwhile, Dundee are unbeaten this term and yet to concede an away goal, a statistic which adds appeal to bet365’s 12/5 odds for their match against St Johnstone to finish on level terms. Indeed, given the visitors’ defensive prowess, Ladbrokes’ 10/1 for it to end as a goalless draw cannot be discounted. The same could be said of the 4/1 posted by Winner.com against the match being level at 45 and at 90 minutes.
Hamilton have enjoyed a great start and at 4/1 (Betway) they look overpriced to secure three points at Tannadice where Dundee United are offered at 5/6 (Paddy Power) to maintain their 100% home record.
Only once in the last eight league encounters between Kilmarnock and St Mirren has the away side emerged victorious. Paddy Power expect this trend to continue, installing Killie as 6/5 jollies, though it’s worth noting that three of those eight league meetings have finished one apiece; Skybet chalk 13/2 about it ending 1-1 on Saturday.
League leaders Inverness travel to Partick as William Hill’s 7/5 favourites. The pair drew 0-0 when they last met and the chances of that score being repeated at the weekend is considered a 9/1 shot by Stan James.
John Sutton scored five goals in three appearances for Motherwell against Ross last season and although he’s yet to get off the mark this term, Skybet price him at 13/2 to open the scoring when the pair meet on Saturday. Motherwell haven’t scored in their last four outings, but they’re 8/1 (bet365) to win it 1-0, while a 1-1 result is priced at 6/1 by BetVictor.com.
